Bonus Resources to the Community

Santa Barbara Dance Wiki
In response to a shift in provision of resources in the community, we are maintaining a website that collates information about all things pertaining to dance.  The vision is to have this manifest into a sustainable resource, managed by the community, that is updated annually.

When we are able, we use funds from our resources not only to help us realize our projects, but also the projects of others.  In 2011 a dance floor was purchased and donated to Fishbon's Pescadrome for the SB-ADaPT Festival.  They now have it as a resource to use for any dance events that may occur there. We look forwards to using it again in 2014!   The NECTAR community has many artists that integrate projections into their work. This year we purchased a projector and have made a commitment to the community to show up to all of the NECTAR events to manage sound, videotaping the event and to also have the projector available for artists who have need of one.   We have also provided one on one techie support empowering others to manage their own websites, put up YouTube channels, and increase their online presence.

Golden Gifts
For our events at Center Stage Theater we call around and offer tickets to those in need, or who could use an extra charge of inspiration.  Our last set of takers were staff members of Saint Vincents.   From time to time we practice random acts of kindness and make out a donation to an artist we believe is making exceptional work, or doing something terrific for the community.  They are "surprise" gifts in small amounts intended to brighten an artists day.

Umbrella Services
The Future Traditions Foundation provides low cost umbrella services to individual artists and arts groups.  There is a $35 set up fee for one's account.   To be the fiscal receiver for one's funds we retain a small percentage of the funds you receive from other funding sources.  To inquire about obtaining these low cost umbrella services please call the office (805) 569-0389.

Dance S.O.S. Center
In March of 2010 SonneBlauma Danscz Theatre launched a project intended to serve local, regional, national, and international dance communities in form of a free online resource.  This budding resource includes information about:
  • Dancer's earnings in different regions
  • Choreographic Showcases and Festivals
  • Funding for dance
  • How to get one's work out into the world including producing one's own show
  • Stories told by those who have "made it to the top"
  • Dance classes in one's community
  • Rehearsal space in one's community and how much it costs
The resource is designed to provide the information one needs to carve out the lifework of an artist that one is not necessarily provided with when receiving a degree in dance.

We've placed further development of the project on hold until we can garnish the volunteer power needed to manage it on a day to day basis.
